Individually Wrapped Wet Wipes for Restaurants, Hotels and Airlines

By LX Wipe Sourcing Team · Published · 7 min read

Short answer

Individually wrapped wet wipes are single wipes sealed in a small sachet, used by restaurants, hotels and airlines as a hygienic, branded hand-and-face refresher. Buyers specify the sheet size and fibre, the liquid (often a light, alcohol-free lotion, sometimes with a lemon or neutral scent), and a custom-printed sachet. Expect higher MOQs than for standard packs, because each print design needs its own film run, and keep claims simple: germ-killing claims turn a refresher into a regulated antiseptic product.

How do you specify a custom wet wipe sachet?

  • Sheet. Size and fibre; plastic-free viscose or wood pulp blends if any UK consumer will receive the wipe (see below). The fibre vocabulary is in what wet wipes are made of.
  • Liquid. Gentle water-based lotion, alcohol-free is common for food settings; alcohol-based if you want a fast-drying feel, which then needs flammability and claims checks.
  • Scent. Lemon and citrus are traditional for restaurants; airlines and hotels often prefer neutral or fragrance free.
  • Sachet film. Paper-look, foil-look or plain laminates; barrier performance decides how long the wipe stays wet.
  • Print. Logo, brand colours, usage text, ingredients and any required market information.
  • Packing. Count per carton, inner boxes for dispensing at a counter.

Why is the MOQ higher for individually wrapped wipes?

Each sachet uses printed film, and film is printed in runs with its own set-up cost per design. A single wipe per sachet also means many more units are needed to reach an efficient run. The MOQ and cost guide lists published supplier examples: single-sachet wipes are often quoted in tens or hundreds of thousands of pieces, where soft packs are quoted in thousands of packs.

Ways to keep the first order manageable:

  1. Use one design across all locations instead of several.
  2. Start with fewer print colours, or a stock sachet with a printed label or carton.
  3. Agree a call-off schedule if storage is limited.

LX Wipe confirms MOQ for your exact design after reviewing the artwork; for comparison, a custom-printed soft-pack SKU typically starts from about 10,000 packs.

Which claims can you print on hospitality wet wipes?

Keep the sachet to refreshing and cleansing language unless the product holds the right authorisation:

  • “Refreshing towelette”, “cleansing wipe” — cosmetic positioning in most markets.
  • “Antibacterial”, “kills 99.9% of germs” — in the US, a hand wipe with these claims is an OTC antiseptic drug; in the EU and UK it is a biocidal product. See antibacterial vs disinfecting wipes.
  • “Biodegradable”, “eco-friendly” — environmental claims with their own rules; see biodegradable vs plastic-free vs compostable.

In the US, the FDA treats wipes that only cleanse or refresh the skin as cosmetics (FDA). Cosmetic duties apply to the brand on the label, which may be your restaurant or hotel group.

Does the UK plastic wet wipes ban affect restaurants and hotels?

Likely yes, if the wipe contains plastic and is handed to customers. GOV.UK guidance says businesses can still buy plastic-containing wipes from other businesses, but those wipes must not be supplied or sold on to individual customers, except by registered pharmacies (GOV.UK). Giving a wipe to a diner or guest looks like supply to a consumer, so the safe choice for UK venues is a plastic-free sheet. The ban starts in Wales on 18 December 2026 and in England on 19 May 2027; check your situation with Trading Standards. Details: UK plastic wet wipes ban.

How does a custom sachet project run?

  1. Share your use, target size, scent, and markets.
  2. Receive stock sachet samples to choose sheet and film.
  3. Send artwork; we return a dieline proof for approval.
  4. Approve a pre-production sample.
  5. Production, usually 25–35 days after approval, followed by shipping.

Artwork and film choices for sachets are covered in the packaging guide.

Frequently asked questions

What size are individually wrapped wet wipes?

There is no single standard. Restaurants often use mid-size sheets for hands after eating, while airlines and delivery services choose compact sachets. Specify sheet size and sachet size separately.

Why is the MOQ high for printed wet wipe sachets?

Each design needs its own printed film run, and each sachet holds one wipe, so efficient runs need large quantities. Using one design and fewer colours helps lower the first order.

Can restaurant wipes say “antibacterial”?

Only if the product is authorised for that claim: in the US such hand wipes are OTC antiseptic drugs, and in the EU and UK they are biocidal products. Otherwise use refreshing or cleansing language.

Can UK restaurants still give out plastic wet wipes?

GOV.UK guidance says plastic-containing wipes bought from businesses must not be supplied or sold on to individual customers, except by registered pharmacies. Use plastic-free wipes and confirm with Trading Standards.

Can LX Wipe print our logo on individually wrapped wipes?

Yes. LX Wipe supplies custom-printed single-wipe sachets through partner factories, with choice of sheet, liquid, scent and film.
